Jeff started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu because he was missing a competitive spark in his life. He wanted to regain the mental toughness that comes with dedicated training and to find a new outlet to push himself.

What he found at GUMA was more than just competition — it was a brotherhood. Jeff enjoys going to war alongside his teammates and feels supported every time he steps onto the mats. For him, when one teammate wins, everyone wins.

In Jeff’s words

Why did you start BJJ?

Started BJJ because I was missing a competitive spark in my life. Wanted to gain back the mental toughness of training.

What do you enjoy most about competing?

Going to war with my brothers!

What motivates you to keep training?

The friendly competition but most importantly the brotherhood I’ve made along the way. The team is nothing short of family and push me to be my best every time I step in the gym.

Who has influenced your BJJ journey the most?

Sensei and Gabe.

What does representing our competition team mean to you?

It means a lot knowing my team has my back. Stepping out there and giving it my all because I know everyone besides me will do the same.

What does representing Guam mean to you?

This island has accepted me as one of its own so representing it the best way I can means a lot.

What are your competition goals for the next 12 months?

A gah DAMN MEDAL.

What is your ultimate goal in BJJ?

To continue bettering myself and helping my teammates along the way. Seeing their growth is like seeing my own growth too so when one wins we all win!
